Classic Wedding Editorial Shoot at The Lit in Grand Rapids, MI

Grand Rapids, MI

We partnered with several vendors for a stylized shoot at The Lit in Grand Rapids, MI. We love doing stylized shoots because it gives us the opportunity to get to know other wedding professionals and grow our network. This network has become such an invaluable resource for so many brides! Because you typically hire a wedding photographer fairly early in the planning stages, we’re able to help connect you with people we love and trust!

The Lit is a beautiful venue for mid-sized weddings. Converted from the former Ladies Literary Club in downtown Grand Rapids, this venue has many of its original architectural details still intact. Perfect for a very elegant, classic feel.

The Venue: The Lit - Grand Rapids, MI

If you haven’t had a chance to visit The Lit in Grand Rapids, MI you really are missing out. This is the true “goldilocks” venue for sure! It is perfect for a small, intimate ceremony and reception but still has that grand feel. The building is on the Historic Register and dates back to the late 1800s and it has been well cared for over the years so much of the interior architectural details are original to the building. This building features a beautiful open floor plan, stage and TONS of excellent natural light flowing in from the windows. The options for beautiful portraits in this venue are endless!

The Dress: Magnolia Bridal Boutique - Jenison, MI

Magnolia Bridal Boutique supplied the dresses for this shoot. We’re partnering with Morgan from Magnolia for several other styled shoots we have planned. We just love working with Morgan. She has a large selection of a very wide range of styles and sizes of wedding dress and they’re all absolutely stunning! We also love her concept, her mobile bridal boutique is new to the wedding scene in Grand Rapids. She brings the dress shopping experience to brides. In a time where appointments at dress shops are limited and restricted to only one or two people, why not have a party with your bridal team in your own home or at one of her partner venues? Morgan can make that happen!

For this shoot Magnolia Bridal Boutique choose dresses that would pair with the mood of the venue so the first dress we captured was a beautiful, very full ballgown dress. It’s simple elegance really fit the space. The second dress we photographed was a long sleeve sweetheart lace fit & flare dress with a keyhole back by Mori Lee.

Bridal Accessories: Diane Marie Bridal Designs

No bride’s look is complete without her accessories. And a special thanks to Diane Marie Bridal Designs who provided us with some beautiful veil options from a simple cathedral veil to lace edged veils, she brought us options! Diane also provided some elegant necklace, bracelet and earring options. Diane makes all of the accessories by hand custom for each of her brides and their bridal parties. Shop online or you can see them in person at Magnolia Bridal Boutique.

Spray Tan Artist: Sandbar Spray Tan

A few days ahead of the stylized shoot our bride had a spray tan done by Hannah with Sandbar Spray Tan. She’s a mobile spray tan artist that comes to you! It’s not the horrible orange spray tan like you might imagine. The product she applies actually works over the course of a couple of days with your natural skin tones to develop just a nice even sun-kissed glow. She can make it as light or as dark as you want it.

Make-UP Artist: Erick Gerson Makeup

Erick Gerson Makeup Artist did an amazing job highlighting the beauty of our bride for both her hair and makeup. Erick is such a joyful and grateful person to work with, he brought a great energy to the day. I can only imagine how awesome it would be to have him work his magic on your wedding day, his wonderful personality would surely help calm those wedding day jitters!

Tuxedo: Bunny Tuxedos - Grandville, MI

Bunny Tuxedos provided the tux for this shoot. The “groom” for the day was just in love with this charcoal gray tux with a handsome black satin bow tie and black vest. He really was a great partner to our bride. For the second look we switched out his bow tie to a dark green tie.

Florals/Rentals: Events by I Candy

Events by I Candy provided a very beautiful silk floral bouquet and boutonniere. If you didn’t tell me that they were silk I really wouldn’t have guessed it. They looked so real and the beautiful part about silk is that we didn’t have to worry about them wilting! Additionally, Events by I Candy had already set The Lit up with centerpieces on the tables in the venue that were beautiful!!

Overall we had a fantastic time and really couldn’t do it without the help of all the vendors involved. We hope that our experience with them will help you in your wedding planning as we would highly recommend any one of them for your wedding!
